Reuse & Recycling Policy – Clear Cornwall

At Clear Cornwall, Georgana is committed to delivering eco-responsible home clearances, decluttering support, and waste management services. We believe in minimising environmental impact wherever possible, ensuring that items are reused, repurposed, or recycled instead of going to landfill.

This Reuse & Recycling Policy outlines how we handle items during and after our work with clients.

1. Our Environmental Commitment

We aim to operate sustainably by:

  • Reducing waste through efficient sorting and reuse.

  • Donating usable items to local charities and community groups.

  • Recycling materials responsibly through approved facilities.

  • Ensuring all disposal follows UK environmental regulations.

Our goal is to keep as much as possible out of landfill while supporting the local community.

2. Prioritising Reuse

Wherever possible, items are given a new life through:

  • Charity donations
Clothing, furniture, homewares, books, and other reusable items are donated to trusted local charities.

  • Community reuse
Items that may benefit individuals or families in need are directed to community groups where appropriate.

  • Local rehoming
When agreed with clients, we may help rehome certain items through local networks.

We will always seek client approval before donating or rehoming items.

3. Responsible Recycling

When items cannot be reused, we dispose of them through licenced, reputable recycling channels. This includes:

  • Paper and cardboard

  • Plastics

  • Glass

  • Metals

  • Electrical items (WEEE)

  • Wood and green waste

We only use certified waste carriers and recycling centres to ensure full compliance with UK environmental standards.

4. Ethical Disposal of Non-Recyclable Waste

Some items cannot be reused or recycled. In these cases, we ensure:

  • Waste is handled safely

  • Disposal follows legal requirements

  • Hazardous materials are managed professionally and responsibly

  • Landfill is used only as a last resort

5. Working Transparently With Clients

We aim to keep clients fully informed about what will happen to their items. This includes:

  • Explaining reuse and recycling options

  • Discussing items that may carry disposal fees

  • Confirming which items can be donated, rehomed, or recycled

We are always happy to answer questions about our environmental processes.

6. Continual Improvement

Clear Cornwall is committed to improving our sustainability practices. We regularly:

  • Review our recycling partners

  • Explore new local reuse options

  • Look for ways to further reduce waste

  • Update this policy as needed
